Like a prayer
Soul’s whispered utterance
Often guttural; sometimes fair
Transcends reality
Rescues me - from despair
A verse
Like a balm
Soothes troubled spirit with rest and calm
Reminds measureless humanity has trod
Same arduous path of life
Resolutely - forward plod
